So for all you boxing fans out there, Pacman’s rematch with Tim Bradley happened last weekend.
Am I a huge gigantic Pacman fan whose bias most definitely affects most of his discussions involving Pacman? Fuck yes.
Was I impressed by his last fight? Sadly, no :(((
Not that I didn’t think he won or anything. He definitely outboxed bradley for the UD. Rounds 1-6 were competitive, but 7-12 Pac pretty much took control. But was Bradley ever really in danger? Not really. Did I feel like Pacman absolutely commanded the fight as well as Money May has for his past dozen fights? Not really. Yes yes, different style of boxing, not comparable, blah blah blah
But ultimately I was not wow’d. The usual Pacman Fist Tornado that pleasured my eyeballs in the past failed to manifest during this fight. And I’m not basing this on his lack of KO’s. Yah he hasn’t had a KO since Cotto, but even in that fight he held off the gas out of compassion for a fellow fighter. And he did it again for Mosley. Then Margarito. Then Bradley in their first fight. All fighters he could have finished, but for whatever reason, didn’t. I really feel like this new non-gambling non-drinking monogamous church going Pacquiao just cannot fathom the aggression it takes to come as close to legall murdering someone in the boxing ring as physically possible. The same style that suited in the past.
Mayweather on the other hand has been handily defeating all his opponents as of late. Yah no KO’s, but aside from the first round again Mosley, you can absolutely see that all his opponents just cannot figure him out. He has dictated basically every round of every fight in the past 5 fights. Especially after, say, round 3 when he basically has his opponent’s timing and combos down. Plus he hasn’t gotten KO’d in his last few fights like Pacquiao. Which, physiologically speaking has a HUGE effect on your chin at the most elite levels of boxing/combat sports.
Ugh I really feel like I should have split this entry into two different entries.
Anyways. Mayweather fight again Maidona that he’ll most likely win by decision is happening soon. And if that goes like I think it will then this Pac May Fight will definitely be possible.
So Young Hosh, who would you put your money on?
Shit. 5 years ago I would have said fuck you bro, this fights too close to call. But as of lately, based on performance, I’d have to say Mayweather. I really feel like at this moment in time, if they fought 10 times, May would would 7 times.
